Again, Brian goes the long way around the barn creating db option property policies that he does not have too.. Almost all of these policies he discussed in the video are already predefined in SQL Server. All you have you have to do is import the XML files into your SQL server from the Tools\Policies\Database Engine\1033 folder and you have them ready to go. No wasted time creating new policies that are already there.....

Seeing how it should work in the 'real world' helps make prudent decisions when setting up your DBs.

@Travis
"Again, Brian goes the long way around the barn creating db option property policies that he does not have too.. Almost all..."
Are you serious Travis? This was an fyi regarding some best practices for DB options and not an alternative to use Policy Management. Policy Management requires SQL 2008 and not everyone is on 2008 just yet.
Constructive criticism is I'm sure welcomed but anything else should be left for elsewhere.

Intentionally setting or leaving autogrowth to a percentage setting can lead to undesirable results of trying to grow by huge chunks.

helpful - scripting is always the presenter's friend.

I found the content quite basic but what I was interested in was the group policy feature. Some more information on setting this up and applying it would have been useful.

I would like to hear more about 1 data file per spindle. Does this apply to a database on a RAID 5 set? I know that these are meant to be short and overview in nature, but hearing of a best practice with no why given lowers its value.
