Introduction to Instead of Triggers

Normal triggers fire after a insert, update, or delete statement but are part of the transaction. Instead of triggers allow us to change the outcome in interesting ways - for example, we can convert a delete statement into an update that just marks rows as deleted.

This is the most amazing way I have seen to date to setup use a Delete column on table to track "deleted" records without having to actually do the delete or move the deleted record to an archive table. Great demo.
