Idera SQL Check

Working with Defaults and Constraints

Defaults are a pretty basic concept, specify a value to be entered if no value is provided, yet just doing that is often a key step in database design. In this lesson we'll show you how to manage defaults in the graphical designer and from TSQL, introduce newsequentialID and show you sp_helpconstraint too.

I think this site is great, I'm a newer user of SQL and to get quick tips/tricks is really nice. Thanks

Very confusing when trying to save the script near the beginning... I don't know what you're doing really. Is it a Microsoft bug? Are you doing a workaround? The rest of the video is fine.

Mark Zamoyta on 4/8/2010
I'm confused by the part where it doesn't save the script properly. I don't know what you're doing exactly. You say "this script doesn't alter the table" yet the script shows ALTER TABLE statements. You say the script wouldn't impact production, yet management studio definitely generated an error. Other than that it was a good video.

can't wait for each of these

Awesome. I had been trying to figure out how to do some of this stuff from Server Management Studio, and that answered a lot of my questions!

Very clear.
