Installing the Adventureworks 2008R2 Sample Databases
Many of the demos we do here on SQLShare use the Adventureworks sample database and for beginners it's not intuitive about where to find them. Back 'in the old days' of SQL 2000 we had Northwind and Pubs installed by default, and then most admins would delete them to save space. Since SQL 2005 it's required a separate install after downloading the installer from CodePlex. The install itself isn't hard, and we'll walk you through to show you what to expect. Remember to get the version that matches your install, and to read the install notes before starting!

It would be nice if there were additional videos that discussed how to troubleshoot the installation of AdWorks. I see lots of posts in forums from people that have problems.

Good. I notice that there are two sets of installations of each Database; one for plain 2008 and one for 2008 R2. If I am using SQL Server 2008 R2, then would I be needing to install the plain versions ? ANyway, it's good that one can install options individually any time..
